Welcome To The Limciela Website

Limciela is a constructed language derived from Latin. It is the language spoken on an imaginary island in the middle of the Mediterranean Ocean, which was colonised by Romans who arrived via Greece in the early part of the first millenium. The name Limciela comes from the Latin lingua celata or hidden language. Most of the vocabulary is derived from Latin, having undergone various sound changes, although Limciela also contains many words of Ancient Greek origin. The grammar, having become more simplified from the original Latin, shows some similarities to other modern Romance languages, particularly those of the Iberian Peninsula.
